A Year of Looking
“A Year of Looking” approaches the difficulties of getting away from your screens in a new and different way, in a sort of “interactive poster” format. Rather than denying you the quick dopamine rush of screens, it gives you an alternative that helps you to look up and experience the world instead – and become a better observer with 365 things to notice, scents to smells, and moments to discover.
Rip out a square, and take it with you in your pocket, your purse, your wallet, or your phone case – it’s your choice. Keep your eyes open and look for the thing written on that square. When you find it, get a new square.
The goal is not necessarily to find one thing every day for 365 days, but to practice keeping your eyes open – and maybe notice details you wouldn’t usually. When there are no more squares left, you will have completed a full year of looking, even if that year is spread out across multiple calendar years.
